There are many different options for HVAC systems to maintain the temperature in your home or business property. These include split systems, packaged systems, zoned systems, and mini-splits, among others.
One increasingly popular choice for HVAC systems is energy efficient systems that both save you money on utility costs and are better for the environment.
There are currently several HVAC rebates in Utah designed to promote the use of high-efficient air conditioning units and HVAC systems.
Because high-efficiency systems can, at least initially, be more expensive, the HVAC rebates in Utah are designed to encourage property owners to install these systems.
One of many HVAC companies dedicated to energy efficient air conditioning and heating systems, we at Utah Climate Pros will discuss these different HVAC rebates and how you can utilize them.
The Home Energy Rebate Program
The Home Energy Rebate Program is the main program providing HVAC rebates in Utah. Two of the main rebates offered through this program are the Home Efficiency Rebates and Home Electrification And Appliance Rebates. Let’s walk through what each of these HVAC rebates offer.
- Home Efficiency Rebates: Eligible energy improvements for this rebate include insulation, air sealing, smart thermostats, and efficient heating and cooling equipment. All the details of this rebate are too complicated to cover in a single post, but the key value in this rebate is that you are eligible for up to 50% of the cost of energy-efficient improvements.
- Home Electrification And Appliance Rebates: This rebate applies to improvements to insulation, air sealing, ventilation, heat pumps, electric cooking, and more. If your income is below 80% of an area’s median income, this rebate can cover the full cost of electrical appliances and energy-efficient improvements up to $14,000 per home.
Federal Tax Credits
Federal tax credits for high-efficiency air conditioning or HVAC systems offer up to a 30% tax credit on all qualifying energy-efficiency improvements completed between 2023-2032.
The maximum credit is $1,200 annually for most improvements.
However, taxpayers can also claim a $2,000 credit for HVAC system updates for a maximum total of $3,200 per year from these credits. Additional (smaller) credits also include:
- Home energy audit (up to $150)
- Upgraded electrical panels (up to $600)
- Upgraded doors (up to $500)
- Windows and skylights (up to $600)

Thermwise offers a wide variety of rebates for energy-efficient appliances. These rebates cover everything from smart thermostats, furnaces, water heaters, and more.
The largest rebate, for dual-fuel heating systems, offers up to a $1,200 rebate.
